The L293D is a
quadruple high-current half-H driver. It is designed to provide
bi-directional drive currents of up to 600ma from 4.5 volts to 36
volts DC. This device is designed to drive inductive loads such as
relays, solenoids, DC and bipolar stepping motors in positive supply
applications.
The L293D motor
driver module is designed for use with the eLab6 microcontroller
module for interfacing with small DC motors or solenoids. The L293D
can be powered from the same 4.5 volt power supply as the eLab6 to
control a small 3 volt motor. Higher voltage motors of 4.5 to 36
volts can be used with the L293D by using a separate regulated
supply connected to pin 8. A 220nF polyester capacitor has been
connected directly across the motor terminals to prevent motor noise
from interfering with the circuit.
