Introduction

elabtronics' development kits are designed for maximum flexibility and ease of use. Their major advantage is that they can be used both for the programming of the microcontroller chip and as the actual electronic control hardware. They incorporate the entire development process and, as a result, make complex and rudimentary projects alike straight forward and convenient.

elabtronics' development kits are different because traditionally, the programming of the chip required a separate device, and the chip could be programmed only once. The boards incorporates Microchip Technology Inc. (USA)'s PICmicro® microcontrollers, which feature FLASH Memory, enabling them to be electrically programmed and erased over 1 million times. Thus they can be used over and over again, for a wide variety of different projects.

Five kits are presently available. The elab16m incorporates the PIC16F819 and the L293D driver chips. This reusable controller can be used for anything ranging from sounds, LEDs, transistor drives and relays. Applications of the elab16m include creating your very own reaction game, light meter or temperature sensor. It is also the "brain" behind elabtronics' latest educational robot, the eRacer_16m, making this controller suitable for anyone from the beginner to the professional.

The elabD50 is elabtronics' premium development kit. It incorporates the PIC16F877A chip and has 50 input/output ports. This makes the elabD50 a suitable full strength multifunctional microcontroller development board for tertiary and industrial users. It combines the ease of use of smaller boards, whilst providing enough functionality to the form the basis of advanced projects such as a greenhouse controller.

The elab6 is a simple board that is ideal for an introduction to microcontrollers and their uses. It incorporates the PIC12F675 chip and is able to create sound and illuminate LEDs. Together with the L293D motor driver module, the elab6 can be interfaced with small DC motors and solenoids. The elab6p is the prototyping version of the elab6. Create your very own simple LED circuits or complex transistor drives. The elab6p is great for hobbyists and introducing the skill of prototyping to students.

elabtronics' development kits provide a comprehensive solution to microcontroller programming. Programming software, including a 30-day trial version of our revolutionary CoreChart Icon Assembler, is included. Designed to minimize problems for first time constructors and programmers, the documentation is clear, precise and informative. As extra features, teaching resources and tutorials have been written to demonstrate and help apply the basic elements of practical electronics, as well as more advanced microcontroller concepts, and a technical data sheet library included to provide development information for various applications.
